AC Milan hero Stefano Eranio has questioned their move for Julen Lopetegui.
The former Wolves manager is being linked with Stefano Pioli's job at AC Milan.
But Eranio told MilanNews.it: "I hope that Milan can rethink the choice, which is important, especially after a year in which they hammered Pioli. Rather than take Lopetegui, with all due respect, I would go to other profiles who perhaps know the Milan environment well.
"I don't understand why the names of Donadoni, Evani, Rijkaard are never mentioned. They have all disappeared from circulation. Yet they are excellent coaches and at least on par, if not better, than Lopetegui. They are loved, they have Rossoneri roots. And they would be protected by the fans. Why take a person who doesn't know the environment in any way? I could understand if the choice was towards Jurgen Klopp who is a world-class coach and a great person."
Eranio also raised Antonio Conte as a possibility: "He is a friend and I can only speak well of all the friends who do the same job as me. I know Antonio, he is capable and a good person. He would do great things.
"But Thiago Motta would also be a right choice. These profiles can do good for Milan. But as I said, even if they have had little resonance, the names I mentioned of Donadoni, Evani and Rijkaard can do well."
