Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders is being linked with the Ajax job.
The Dutchman will leave Liverpool at the end of the season alongside manager Jurgen Klopp.
De Telegraaf says Lijnders is wanted by Ajax.
The Dutch giants have already started discussions with the 41-year-old about replacing John van't Schip as head coach for next season.
Ajax brought in Van't Schip as an interim coach when Maurice Steijn was sacked at the end of October.
If Lijnders takes over at Ajax, he will be reunited with former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
