Al-Ettifaq coach Steven Gerrard has called for referees to be imported by the Saudi Pro League.

The Liverpool legend was left fuming after defeat to Al Taawoun yesterday.

Gerrard later said, "The match here was the perfect example of why clubs will pay sums to get foreign referees for this type of matches. That was the perfect example.

"We were punished with an incorrect penalty kick, otherwise it was a fair match.

-"The referee did not award us a penalty for a hand on the ball, so the trend of not awarding penalty kicks to Ettifaq continues."
