Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expects Luka Modric to make the final decision on signing a new contract.

Ancelotti says Modric will be left to make the decision of re-signing himself.

He said: "We have discussed this issue with us, with Luka once and it is normal that it is difficult for him because he is used to always playing. I understand it perfectly, he is someone very serious, he is the available player who can play any game.

"He continues to contribute what he contributed before, he is an example of what a professional has to be and he contributes and continues to be a lot."

Asked if the club will let Modric decide his future, Ancelotti added: "This is what the club has done with all the legends in recent years. I spoke with Luka about this topic a month ago and everything is quite clear between the two."
