Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor has been branded "the disgrace of Brazilian football".

Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has blasted Textor after the Botafogo owner spoke to local police about corruption allegations.

Pereira told Lance: "Who is he? He is the disgrace of Brazilian football. A braggart who must be punished in an exemplary manner. An owner of a club of the size of Botafogo cannot spread falsehoods without evidence.

"What does he say? That the championship is rigged and that the authorities do not act?

"That's why the authorities must take exemplary measures to curb this type of behavior on the part of managers. If there is evidence, the first interested parties are the clubs. We win championships legally and we cannot tolerate this kind of thing."
