Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano says they deserve to be in the Europa Conference League final.

A 1-1 draw at Club Brugge sees the Viola reach the final 4-3 on aggregate. Lucas Beltran's late penalty made the difference.

Italiano said: "Two years in this competition and two finals, extraordinary. The curse of the woodwork haunts us, thank goodness we scored the penalty with Beltran. In an incredible bedlam and against a strong team, well done to my boys.

“When I arrived in Florence, speaking with the fans, I said that I would do everything to go to the cups that I never took part in as a player. I didn't know Europe, I must say that it is a fantastic path and I am happy because this year too we're in the final.

“This year, damn the woodwork and also the penalties. I was a little scared, but good work to Lucas who took responsibility. He showed great personality, the moment was tough.

“We started out a little too respectful of Club Brugge, conceding too many chances in the first 15 minutes. Immediately after the goal we loosened up, we increased the pressure and had some chances.

“In the first half we told ourselves that we had to continue to push, putting pressure on them. That's how it was, we created tons of chances and didn't let them play. Excellent performance from everyone, when you play like this you are rewarded with these victories."
