Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard will not be joining Al-Ettifaq in the coming weeks.
The ex-United academy product, who also played for West Ham and Nottingham Forest, is without a club.
Lingard had been training with Steven Gerrard's team in Saudi Arabia, but has been told his wage demands are too high.
The 30-year-old wanted £7 million-a-year, which no European team has offered him either.
Per Ben Jacobs, the deal with the Saudi club is now dead, which means Lingard will have to assess other options.
The attacker left Man United as a free agent 18 months ago believing he was deserving of regular game time.
