Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is being linked with a return to Ajax.
Ajax are seeking a new head coach, with caretaker Johnny van't Schip unlikely to be handed the job permanently.
Local pundit Mike Verweij wrote for De Telegraaf: “Although the selection is thin, Ajax prefers a Dutch coach. And of course preferably someone with an Ajax background.
“A name that is floating around the Johan Cruijff ArenA is that of former AZ coach Pascal Jansen, who already watched two matches from a skybox.
“A number of people are enthusiastic about the Frank de Boer / Pepijn Lijnders combination, because the club would be more or less indebted to De Boer after his four national titles and Lijnders gained years of experience at Jürgen Klopp's side.
“Possibly (Alex) Kroes speculates on a break between Manchester United and Erik ten Hag after this season. The new general manager will then have to convince the successful coach not to embark on a new foreign adventure, because Ajax can only win by building this from the ground up. The fact that Ten Hag is guided by Kroes' old company SEG may help."
