16-year old Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes has taken to social media to express his happiness at making his debut for United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The London-born Gomes became the first player born in the 21st century to play in the Premier League when he replaced Wayne Rooney in United's victory over Crystal Palace.

"To come on for the club legend Wayne Rooney and also be the youngest player to play in the PL I can't describe how I am feeling," Gomes wrote on social media after the game.

"I can only thank God for this - Thank you everyone for the support."

Gomes also posted a photo of himself and Rooney when they meet 10 years ago on Instagram.
