Luka Modric says he's calm about his situation at Real Madrid.
The veteran midfielder has struggles for minutes this season.
Modric told Sportske Jutarnki: “I am completely calm, aware that I have to work as before and that sooner or later I will have opportunities. I am aware that we have a lot of competition in midfield, that these young people are top-level players. I remain firmly convinced that I can still play the way Real Madrid needs me to.
"My only condition for staying was that they treated me as a competitive player, as I have been until now, and not that they kept me in the roster based on past merits.. Nobody is happy when they are out of the game. I didn't stay to stay, but I want to play and enjoy football and Madrid.
"After everything in my career, in which I'm not sure I've ever been on the bench for three games in a row, that feeling was especially strange to me. But hey, the coach decided it for his own reasons. I certainly won't sink or falter over it."
The veteran also discussed his offer from Saudi Arabia: “Madrid expressed their wish that we continue last spring and I had the same wish. We sat down and quickly came to an agreement. I've been at Madrid for 12 years and we've never had any problems.
"Our relationship is extraordinary. There were offers. Only if Real didn't want me, then I would consider other options. I am happy and fulfilled in Madrid and as long as that is the case, I do not think of other options. I also don't need to boost my ego with big deals. I just want to enjoy every moment in football and in Madrid, I don't set limits."
