Porto president Nuno Pinto da Costa admits they were close to signing Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne.

Pinto da Costa says they were close to signing De Bruyne before his move to Chelsea as a young player.

He recalled: "In relation to De Bruyne, I can tell you that it is true that we were interested in him.

"We had reports from several scouts, we were in negotiations and they were reasonable figures.
