Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos slammed ref Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias at today's Champions League presser.
Ramos was sent off by Ortiz Arias in defeat to Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Ahead of Sevilla's clash with PSV, Ramos revisited his dismissal: “The referees can also make mistakes, like us. In the past, they were put in the refrigerator when they made bad decisions. We are here to help each other.
"The referee the other day is a distant person who speaks with an arrogance out of place as a referee, and we don't like that. The referees must set an example. More than one player mentioned it the other day, that you find words out of place.
"Even if you have that position, we must all maintain the utmost respect. We can make mistakes, but above all, there must be respect."
He also said: “There may be many opinions. It is a play in a danger zone, defenders are always in that space. You have to play it. I cut the ball and then touch Brais (Mendez). For me, direct red is excessive, I think it had to be yellow.
"It is normal for the club to appeal. There is a timing that the referee must understand but he can make mistakes like us. I don't know if they will take it away from me but let it be just one game and be with the team soon."
