Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos was delighted with his winning return on Sunday.

The new arrival featured as Sevilla defeated Las Palmas 1-0.

Ramos later said: "I'm especially happy with the result after a difficult start for the team. We had one advantage, which was to play at home after the break. We played with a lot of intensity, the league has that, any team complicates your life and you can see the competitiveness. The team has done things well, it has insisted, we pressed high, I think we had 26 chances, we were able to widen the gap on the scoreboard but we got three important points.

"I have felt a very great emotion as it happened to me the other day. It is very exciting to be reunited with my people, my home, my fans. It is something unique, it cannot be described in words and what better way to do it than with a victory. Let it be the beginning of a good streak."

Much was written and spoken about the reception the defender would have from the Sánchez-Pizjuán stands.

"I had a little doubt at first, but the other day at the reception I had told my parents that I'll take that to the grave, I can die in peace. I saw the affection in the warm-up, it's what one needs and then everything starts rolling."

Ramos was also questioned what coach Jose Luis Mendilibar said before the clash.

"Be calm, perform at the best level and little by little look for the best possible form. These are my first ninety minutes after three months and although I am physically well, the dynamic is missing. I felt pretty good."

The centre-back dedicated the victory "to the fans because after the start we had they deserve it and to my people who support me in the good and the bad, even more so in the bad."
