Leicester City will be delighted at the instant impact made by goalkeeper Danny Ward.

The former Liverpool stopper is determined to give Kasper Schmeichel a run for the number one jersey this season.

And he showed his qualities during a 0-0 draw between Leicester and Akhisarspor.

It was a relatively uneventful game, with both teams treating it as little more than a fitness exercise.

But Ward did pull of two impressive first half saves to keep his side in the game.

Ward left Liverpool after they signed Alisson, knowing he would be third or fourth choice going into the new season.
